Tulip City is a nickname for the city of Holland in Michigan. I give Holland two thumbs up, due to its abundance of activities for tourists and variety of things to do on a daily basis. Holland is definitely a place I am happy to call home.

Places to See

Holland has many places to see, with a number of attractions that tourists love to visit. Every year, Holland holds a May festival. People travel from all over to participate in this Tulip Time event. There are parades, carnivals, tons of great food, and even fireworks. It is the biggest tourist attraction that Holland has to offer.

The rest of the year, there are plenty of things to do as well. Holland contains the Westshore Mall, where people can shop, eat, and also let their kids play. The mall contains an indoor play area. At the current time, the Westshore Mall is under construction. I can’t wait to see what shops are included when it reopens. Holland additionally has its own mini theme park, known as Dutch Village. Shop, go to the petting zoo, let the kids play on the wooden shoe slide, and so much more. A new play place also opened up, called Meg’s Playhouse. It offers a safe place to play for younger children. While the rules say children up to the age of 10 can play, the playhouse seems much more suited for those younger than 6 or 7.

If you would like to see the beach, you can go to Holland State Park. You can even fish, boat, and see the water from Kollen Park. Holland provides access to two lakes, Macatawa and Michigan. It also contains many parks and recreational areas for family picnics and children to play. Holland is full of things to do and places to go.

Places to Stay

There are numerous places to stay in Holland. If camping is your thing, there are four separate campgrounds located throughout the Holland area, two of which are near the beach. If it is not your thing, or the weather is too cold for that activity, then there are plenty of hotels to stay in, as well as cabins and cottages for rent. There are more than 10 hotels within Holland to choose from.

There are many great aspects to Holland. With plenty of places to stay and even more places to go, it makes it a great city for anyone to visit, for any number of reasons. Go to the beach, play at the park, or partake in the Tulip Time festivities; it can all be done in Holland. Two thumbs up for Tulip City!
